The Boss!!

By Wolves
October 20 2018

In a remarkable tribute to both the fitness and the disciplinary conduct of his team, Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to be able to name the same starting Xl for the ninth sconsecutive time for today's match.

Wolves will today be looking for their third consective Premiership win at Molineux and seeking to extend their run of six games undefeated in their return to the Premier League. Watford made a good start to the season winning their first four games, but their recent form has dropped off somewhat, resulting in their 4 - 0 defeat by Bournemouth prior to the international break. All of Wolves International players have returned fit, so an unchanged team is likely to be on the cards again.

A lot of credit for Nuno being able to name an unchanged team again if he chooses to, must go to the fitness team in the backroom staff. Last season and so far this, we have had very few injuries to contend with.

Not going to be an easy match but I do think that we can control Watford and win this one.

Match underway in the October sunshine. Referee is Lee Mason

Ben Foster getting the bird from Wolves fans - presumably because of his WBA links. Free kick to Wolves taken by Neves and a corner gained

Not much to report so far. Wolves playing as they usually do, taking safely & taking few chances. Quite a few balls being given away by both sides so far, with much of the play in midfield

Capoue smashes a goal in from outside the penalty are - approx 30 yds - Rui no chance
Wolves 0 Watford 1

Boly takes out Success just inches outside the area. Delafeou hits it into the wall

Deulofeu is proving difficult to contain in his first start this season. Wolves need to regroup.
Good attacking play by Wolves but Raul penalised for a push in the pen area

20/10/2018 15:31
Well I suppose it had to happen - just hope we regain some respectability...

Cheshire wolf

Neves & Jaoa struggling bit in midfield today as they are getting overloaded. Neves booked for a sliding tackle.

Quality of play isn't there from us yet

Cheshire wolf

Jota feeds Raul who shoots from edge of pen area but well wide.

Watford are playing some attractive football on the other hand

Cheshire wolf

Another chance for Watford well collected by Rui.
Two minutes plus two mins added time to be played.

20/10/2018 15:41
Let's hope they can regroup at half-time. Test of character for them all!

Half time Wolves 0 Watford 2

Wolves have really struggled in first half (needless to say!!) and have given away too many free kicks. Capoue and Deulofeu have starred for W'ford and they took the goals really well. They have played very narrow in the middle and have had four players for Joao and Neves to try & cope with. Jota has made some good passes but is still struggling to put his stamp on a game.

I’m here. Typical.
Really not a good performance, worst I’ve seen a Nuno side play.
A good one to win, as they say!

Second half underway. Vinagre replaces Jonny in a tactical change. Costa infuriated as he puts a hand on Peyrera who falls over and gets the free kick!!

Cheshire wolf

Better play from Wolves - especially Costa

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:09
Another soft free kick against Jota

Cheshire wolf

Ivan Cavaleiro warming up & ready to come on to replace Raul. Foster wasting time with his goal kick.

Costa puts Jota through in the pen area but he's outnumbered 3:1

Boly tests Foster with a back heel from the free kick

Costa works really hard to earn a corner.
Then another
Andre Gray coming on for Watford

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:23
Brilliant defending tackle by Neves to foil Decoure in front of goal.
Deulofeu replaced by Gray

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:26
Shot from Joao goes over the bar. iI don't think we've had a shot on target to speak of.
Traore replaces Doc

20/10/2018 16:27
Let's hope he's super sub!

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:29
Another petty foul against Jota who shows his temper & gets a yellow card!
Wolves get their 7th corner which comes to nothing.
Watford replace striker Success with a defender

Great work on left wing by Vinagre & his ball is headed just over the bar by Cavaleiro

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:34
An agricultural tackle stops Traore in flight but no yellow card. Neves to take free kick

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:37
Neves' kick went over the bar.
Coady has had another very good game in defence - despite the score! Attendance 31,134, including Ivybridge Wolf!!

Probably Wolves best chance of the match - Cav set up Costa but he put it over the bar.
Four minutes of normal time to go & looking like one of those days. Another chance for Costa goes over th bar, but a deflection gives us a corner.

Cheshire wolf
20/10/2018 16:44
Free kick taken by Joao flicked on by Cav but nobody at the back post to put it away.

4 minutes time added

20/10/2018 16:49
Don't think we'd score today if we had another hour! Still it could be worse - I'm glad I don't support Burnley! 😕

Bennett lucky not get a second yellow for a poor challenge on Gray

Game all over Wolves 0 Watford 2

A poor game for Wolves in which they never really looked like scoring. Watford had done their homework and knew how to tie up our midfield duo. They took their two chances really well then played for free kicks and wasted time whenever possible. A big lesson for Wolves this afternoon.

Wolves shots 10, shots on target 1. Shows where the problem lies.

Ivybridge Wolf

Hugely disappointing with barely a shot to saviour or remember.

The first half never got going, we we slack, lacklustre, lacking pace, urgency, fight and ideas, nevertheless Watford scored with their first effort and then their second, 60 seconds later. Two good goals mind. Without doubt the worst 45 I’ve seen from a Nuno Wolves side.

Second half we were a bit better but just never got going versus a side who had done their homework, worked hard and out tactic-ed us.

The ref and linesman in front of the BW stand in the second half joined Wolves with a poor display. Picky, unnecessary and just frankly wrong on so many occasions.

A blip I think for us!

Anyway, it doesn’t thwart my enthusiasm for next weekend - I’ll be at the Amex, we cannot play as poorly twice in a row.

A final mention goes to the kn0bber sitting behind me to my left in row Y of the BW. Often bad language, when used with wit and humour, can be so funny at a match ... however this Neanderthal was ffing and ccing for the full 90 with kids all around. Truly pathetic. One of the kids was with one of our celebrity fans (presume his son), Dominic Sandbrook, TV historian and journo. Anyway, I hope Mr knucklehead didn’t ruin the experience for all of the families surrounding us.

Sounds as bad as it seemed. I also think it was a blip. Including cup matches, we had only conceded one goal in the previous seven games and then concede two in one minute. So far we've always responded well to a defeat under Nuno.
