August 4 2017

It's back, Yes the new season starts for Wolves and we have a very tough opener against Middlesbrough who got relegated from the top flight last season. Wolves have a really poor record against Boro winning just 27 times in 92 meetings. Both sides have spent some money and also got new head coaches.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking to get his new side of to a flyer and push this club back into the premier league.  Ivan Cavaleiro (suspension), Kortney Hause (knock) and Helder Costa (ankle) will all be missing but we will get a chance to meet some of our new heroes in Jota, Neves, Bolly & Ruddy to name a few.

Match facts

eam News: Seven new faces start for Wolverhampton Wanderers
V

The former Porto boss opts for a 3-4-3 formation, tested heavily during pre-season, with Brazilian striker Leo Bonatini spearheading the attack with support from Atletico Madrid loanee Diogo Jota and Wolves academy graduate Bright Enobakhare.

The club and Championship record-signing Ruben Neves starts alongside Romain Saiss in the heart of the midfield, with Barry Douglas on the left wing and Matt Doherty on the right.

Conor Coady takes on the captaincy and marshalls the three-man defence, alongside Porto loanee Willy Boly at left-back and Roderick Miranda at right-back. John Ruddy, who joined on a free from Norwich City last month, takes his place between the sticks.

Ivan Cavaleiro is suspended for the clash after seeing red on the last day of last season, while Helder Costa (ankle) and Ben Marshall (hip) are out for the foreseeable.

Options on the bench include striker Nouha Dicko, who picked up a knock in pre-season, and Wolves stalwarts Dave Edwards and Danny Batth.

Promising for Bonatini. One chance, one goal.
Miranda will have to be careful as he's on a yellow card and we seem to have a whistle happy ref.

Fantastic opening day result. The team performed, The Mol was rocking, the pundits made to eat their words. Bring it on

Was not the best of games but we played well and deserved the three points. The back three look solid. However it seems we do lack a desire to cross the ball. Something I think we need to work on. Still a great start and long may it continue.
