Wood's Goes To Leeds As Wolves Look Set To Sign Ameobi

As revealed in last night's Express And Star, Wolves pulled out of the race to sign the former Albion man as they were not prepared to meet a transfer fee approaching £3million. Woods was also said to want a starting spot which would not happen with Dicko and Afobe leading the way.

Reports have suggested that Ameobi, who is due to sign a new contract at Newcastle is heading to Wolves on loan and would fill the left-wing role being made vacant by Bakary Sako.

The winger started 25 games for Newcastle last year but new boss Steve McClaren appears keen for Ameobi to continue his progression in the Championship.

And the deal will suit Wolves who are reluctant to spend big this summer.

Cheers for updating the site Badge, you have to laugh when it says "wolves aren't prepared to spend big this summer".. since when have we ever bar one summer where we managed to invest less than half the money gathered for Jarvis and Fletcher. People think we were quick off the mark recruiting Wallace..I'm afraid that is the marquee signing and Sakos "replacement".

Other suggestions are that we weren't prepared to offer 4 years - only 3 plus option for a 4th at our gift.

I suspect that £2-3m looked a bit too tasty for Kenny for a player not good enough to make a shout for regular footie at LCFC.

I'm not too upset at missing this one.

You really think Jackett pulled out of a transfer because he didn't want to spend someone elses money? There's only one person who thought the 2-3 million was too much for us but not for cash strapped leeds and it sure as hell wasn't Jackett. I really cant fathom why any poster keeps thinking any players we don't sign are down to the manager changing his mind or " pulling out".
