This Week (or So) At Wolves

Well the season has yet to finish with a few play-off games to be settled along with the champions league final. Oh and the small matter of a World Cup to be won over in Brazil. Yet for Wolves it finished a couple of weeks ago when the club lifted aloft the League One Trophy after amassing a record breaking 103 points.

The club had decided there would not be an open top bus parade through the town sorry, City due to saftey reasons as under new rules it would be down to the club and not the council to get things sorted. Despite this many fans would agree that after two relegations in a row it was best for all to lift a glass or two in celebration and move along quietly and leave the parade's for other clubs to enjoy, And rightly so.

Soccer - Jody Craddock Testimonial - Wolverhampton Wanderers XI v Sunderland XISo, what else has been going on with Wolves since. Jody Craddock had a testimonial match which helped raise lots of money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s cancer centre appeal, Kevin Phillips explained why he did not join us during the transfer window and Wayne Hennessey came out to say it was an easy decision to leave during the same window.  Well Kev and Wayne, who cares, we did not need either of you.

Crystal Palace's Kevin Phillips set to leave in January

The League One Trophy was not the only trophy handed out of late. Kenny Jackett was named Joint League One Manager Of The Year with Leyton Orient's Russell Slade while Kevin McDonald was voted Players' Player and Fans' Player of the year. Also Jack Price was named young professional of the year and midfielder Declan Weeks was voted academy player of the year.

During the last week or so we have also been told that Kenny Jackett will get the full backing he needs to try and compete in the Championship next season. Names have already been banded about that include Conor Newton, James Husband, Rajiv Van la Parra, Harry Maguire and Franck Moussa. Rumours have also circulated that Man City want Karl Ikeme (Doubt It) and that Sako could well be a target for Leicester along with a few other clubs during the window.

Wolves have also decided to release a few players that Include Jamie Tank, Sam Whittall, Kristian Kostrna and Big George Elekobi.

We could also see Stephen Ward, Roger Johnson and Kevein Doyle all leave during the summer as Kenny has already stated there is no way back for them. Even Jamie O'Hara will no doubt leave despite him stating he wants to play for us, If a club finally comes in for him that is.

Wolves have also named a few pre-season games with trips to Telford and Margate for the under 21's/Wolves XI and Cheltenham and Crewe for the senoir team. They have also lined up a fourth trip in five years to Ireland where they will take on Shamrock Rovers & Bohemians during their six day stay.

I'm pretty sure more has gone on but I think that is enough for now and I better go back to looking for a job as I feel it's time to get back to it now the kids are older.
