New Contract For Ikeme In Pipeline

Ikeme is one of the best keepers outside the Premier League and only has a year left on his current three-and-a-half-year deal signed back in November of 2011.

Jez Moxey is confident the 27-year-old shotstopper, who has has had nine loan spells at eight diffent clubs,  will remain at Molineux in the long term. Ikeme Born in Sutton Coldfield, came through the Wolves acadamy and joined the first team squad in 2003.

Moxey is hoping to start talks with Ikeme to extend his stay “I’m aware of Carl’s contractual position and we’re hopeful he will be with us for the long term,” said Moxey.

“He’s a local lad and he’s keen to stay with us and be part of what we’re trying to achieve. He’s under contract and I’m comfortable with his position.”

Ikeme’s brilliance was displayed to a national audience during Monday’s 3-1 win at Leyton Orient.

And Moxey said: “I remember Carl as a youngster playing in a reserve game against Villa and I keep recalling this to people because it was one of the best goalkeeping performances I’ve ever seen anyone make.

“He was absolutely brilliant, and I’ve always said to anyone that he’s an outstanding keeper.”

As has been said many times previously, was rated by Bobby Mimms above both Matt Murray and Hennessey from a very early age.

Has taken his chance, albeit in L1, with both hands (pardon the pun) and think he'll be here for years to come (if Beetroot doesn't sell him first!!).

I remember him coming on as a late sub for an injured Matt Murray once many years ago, I was absolutely sh*tting myself. Turns out he is a pretty good goalkeeper though!

Always liked him as a keeper. Much better than Hennessey who was always a flapper in my opinion and never seem to inspire confidence in his back four.
