Match Ratings
Ikeme- Wasn't actually troubled a huge amount, but was very alert, quick to collect and generally did well. 7
Ward- I thought he was immense for the first half hour, not as good in the second half but looking good value for his place. 7
Mancienne- From start to finish an absolute class act, brilliant, coasted throught several difficult situations in the second half, and I reckon we could have given in to Cardiff without his presence. Takes a kick in the head like a champ as well. 10
Stearman- Solid, a few hesitant moments but complemented Mancienne well. 8
Foley- Took the sting out of several Cardiff attacks with sheer composure, but needs to learn to boot it away when in doubt. 8
Gray- Worked hard for the team, battled well, it didn't come off for him attacking wise, but he did the job Mick would have expected of him away from home. 7
Jones- Did the simple things well, free kicks/deliveries fairly decent. 6
Henry- Another good day at the office for Karl, the usual! 7
Kightly- Full of running, tough to handle in parts but I thought it was one of his weaker games, no real end product though his delivery from corners was decent. 6
Iwelumo- Brilliant stuff, cracking finish for the goal, held it up well, his lay offs and general play were sublime at times, if he can keep this up we'll definitely be banging them in this year. 9
Ebanks-Blake- Such an awkward player to be up against and even if everything else is going wrong for him on the day, you never put it past him to grab a goal out of nowhere, battled brillantly, scored a great goal, and although he was marked out of the second half, remained a potential threat when we pushed up the field. 8
Absolutely chuffed to bits, heart in mouth for most of the game but it was well worth it- an exceptional result against an in form team, both strikers on the scoresheet, and Mancienne looking a masterstroke from Merlin.
