The start of a new era

'Super Jez'
By Tom Bason June 27 2008
Wolves have started this summer with a bang. With 4 days to go until the transfer window opens, Wolves have already pulled of two coups. The signing of Sam Vokes from Bournemouth a few weeks ago raised some eyebrows, with Jez and Mick fighting off reported interest from Newcastle, Celtic and Aston Villa.
This was followed this week with the signing of 20-year old starlet Richard Stearman from recently relegated Leicester, despite a last minute bid from another Championship club.  Stearman, Leicester’s current Player of the Season, has recently been called up to the England Under-21 squad, and has the ability to play anywhere across the back line.

In addition to the two new players, Michael Kightly has signed a new four year deal (albeit just 12 months since signing his last one) to ward off reported interest from Blackburn eager to replace the seemingly soon to be departed David Bentley.  This is the one signing that will please Wolves fans the most, hopefully to be followed up by news that the two best goalkeepers outside the Premiership will both be plying their trade at Molineux next season.

With no English interest in Euro 2008, and only Andy Murray left in Wimbledon, this summer could have been a damp squib for Wolves fans, but if the past couple of weeks are anything to go by, I for one can’t wait for the transfer window to open.

Yet to see how they fits in - but it looks good to me.
Like the way Mcarthy thinks - his strategy on the transfer market. It is a bit different from David Jones who tried to sign internationals in the european transfer market. The only thing i miss is talented brazilians, africans, argentinians. Players with exeptional technique. Mccarthy has so far buyed domestic players, or players from great brittain, with luck, but im sure there is talented players in belgium/holland we've overlooked, wich would be bargains.
