This could be seen as a massive coup for Wolves, an 18 year old with an immense amount of promise.
54 first team appearances over a season and a half with a return of 16 goals. Coupled with his recent inclusion in the Welsh first team squad. Lets just hope he carries on his progression into the game with us in sparkling fashion.
This now brings me on to who is next. Two signings that could appear imminent providing fees and terms can be agreed would be that of the much-publicised Kyle Lafferty and the Hearts captain Cristophe Berra.
In Kyle Lafferty we have a 6ft 4ins striker (can he be called that?) who in 92 first team appearances has scored 13 goals (9 appearances and 3 goals for darlington on loan). To me that is not a striker. Even Andy Keogh has better stats. Some people may argue that he played left wing a lot, well with an assist count of one for last season it doesn’t give me hope. Again, Keogh has our highest assist count for last season. Others will say he’s a target man who will hold the ball up, fair do’s. But doesn’t Sam Vokes play a similar role? The jury will be out for me if this signing materialises.
Christophe Berra is an unknown quantity to me. A 6ft 1ins centre back who recently made his way into the Scottish 1st team squad, was named captain for Hearts this season at 23 and would therefore to me say that he is not a bad player by all accounts. Although going from differing views, some say he’s poor others say he’s class. Time will tell on this one, providing it comes to fruition, if he is any good.
So who else will there be? Defenders remain a priority to the fans. But will that be an area that is given lots of thought and consideration by the management at Wolves? Who knows and I guess again, time will tell all.
It’s a given that we will be linked with every Tom, Dick and Harry, especially as some of the most cynical would believe, if they’re Irish or ex-Sunderland (and that is not my view by the way, I think it’s been done to death!!).
Who would you like to see? Realistically of course given that at the end of the day, although in our eyes we are a big club in the wrong division, when we are in fact one of many Championship clubs looking to break free from the shackles of fizzy pop. Let’s here your thoughts.
