And here we are Ladies and Gents.
By Jamie Best May 1 2008
Reading McCarthy’s comments in the latest E&S article would have you believe that this is just another game, not one to get worked up about. This can be taken two ways I guess. One being that MM is showing absolutely no passion in his ramblings, whilst we as fans sweat and toil, endure sleepless nights etc. Because to us, this game is the accumulation of the season, it’s a win at all costs.

But the other side of it is also true in that we can only do what we can which is win. The boys need to be focused on that alone and not the consequences. They can’t have their minds on what ifs. Get the job done and worry about what the other teams are doing or have done at the end of the game.

I’ve no doubt, in fact it’s a certainty, that a lot of fans will be filtering news through during the game as to what Watford and Palace are doing.

What can start off as an incredible atmosphere with a sold out home following roaring the boys on, giving them a lift can soon turn into a flat, nervous feeling should results go against us. And should that happen, will those feelings pass on to the players enough to make them feel that whatever they do will not be enough?

It’s going to be an emotional day whatever happens.

I’m sat here with mixed feelings. Feelings of excitement, dread and nervousness.

For all that’s gone on this season though, for all the MM debates, Freddy issues etc. etc. we need to put that behind us as we face our most mentally challenging game (possibly more so for the fans?). Forget the derby result, forget all of the other low points (of which there have been numerous).

We need this result, we need this win.

As the song goes “Que Sera Sera”. And hopefully that will see us win by a good margin and one of the two teams falter. Only then will our season be extended with a chance of the ultimate achievement.

Lets make Sunday one to remember eh guys?

Well I for 1 don t think that our season finishes Sunday. We have a simple aim,win or bust.Looking at Watford and Palaces recent results neither will be entering their final games brimming with confidence.
