For Wolves its one of our two games in hand, where the points are without a shadow of a doubt paramount. For our near neighbours it’s a step towards automatic.
“This is one game which is vital for both clubs,” said McCarthy. “This result could set up a defining week for either of us.
“It would appear that way – but we might cut each other’s throats and it might go to the last minute on May 4.”
A loss for either side, though not catastrophic could end up having a significant bearing on confidence going into the final four games of the season. Where a big points haul will doubtless be needed to secure a play off/automatic spot for either team.
A win against our bitter rivals will no doubt give us a major push when we come to face Ipswich and Cardiff in our next two home games. Another two games where points are vital. Even more so against Ipswich who are fighting for a play off spot themselves.
It’s these derby games where everything goes out the window. Wolves are the form team, but will it have a bearing?
Will our defence hold up to the threat of Phillips, Bednar and Miller? Will SEB and Keogh carry on their blossoming partnership?
Also, with Karl Henry being unavailable with medial ligament damage, who should replace him? Gibson has been largely disappointing since his loan switch. Potter hasn’t been given too many chances, and Edwards is just coming back to fitness and has not partnered Olifinjana.
All I can say is lets make sure Molineux is rocking tomorrow night for the whole 90 minutes.
