Whilst Wolves have looked nothing short of hungover and weary since the draw at the Hawthorns, even in fortunate victory over Colchester and Preston, Burnley have looked a side rejuvenated under Owen Coyle, giving glimpses akin to a Wolves team seemingly long gone that interwove graft with beautiful football.
At the moment it seems a team littered with talent and the capacity for playing the beautiful game has adopted a strict "grafting" policy, and whether that's employed by intent or not, the masses remain unimpressed. Colchester and Preston, both teams languishing in the bottom half of the table, the latter currently sitting in the bottom three, posed as big a threat as any team that has come to the Molineux in a while, it's true that no team in this division will give you an easy ride, but that should be a two way system- we gave both the U's and the Lilywhites ample opportunities through our own ineptitude, and we were going to get punished eventually, it just happened to be (ironically) against the team that we began our 5 game period of form against with a win. The rot needs to stop now, and 3 points are a must over Burnley this Saturday, no excuses.
The fact that we need the points of course is no guarantee that we'll be able to step up to the task and earn them.
Indeed, looking at both teams' form over the last five games it's Burnley that just edge it with W3 D2 L0, Wolves having W3 D1 L1, Burnley's three wins coming against Leicester, Watford and Charlton AWAY, with two home draws against Leicester and Stoke, as opposed to Wolves' home wins over Barnsley, Colchester and Preston, a draw with West Brom, and Tuesday's defeat to Barnsley.
