Albion v Wolves Preview
By Tom Bason November 22 2007
On Sunday, Wolves face Albion for the first time this season. With both teams currently occupying positions at the top of the Championship table, this is seen as a perfect opportunity for Wolves to really state their case for promotion this season, while also getting one over on their closest and most hated rivals.
But, how important is this game? After Mick had really stamped his authority on the team in the January transfer window, bringing in the likes of Michael Kightly, Stephen Ward, Michael McIndoe and Andy Keogh, Wolves played Albion four times. In the FA Cup game, we were hammered beyond belief, with only possible high point being an impressive second half cameo from Mark Davies. However, this result proved to be a springboard for a run into the playoffs, with Wolves winning their next 7 of the next 8 League games (plus a draw against Plymouth), including a 1-0 win at then top of the table Preston. The game of this sequence was a 1-0 win of Albion, courtesy of a second half winner from Jay Bothroyd. We then lost our next match at Coventry, and failed to win any of the next four, including a 6-0 home defeat to Southampton. Some fans haven’t been happy with the start this season, but a win, or even a draw, on Sunday will put a lot of fans back on side. Albion Home Form: DWWDW Wolves Away Form: DDWLD
