by Sonny Rock |
| Following
the shameful treatment of Tom Carson and George Clarke by the bungling
board at Dumbarton FC a shoddy Press Statement has been released by
club website guru Jim McAllister on behalf of Father Time - sorry
Douglas Dalgleish.
"Saturday's Daily record reported
that the Directors of Dumbarton Football Club were reneging on
promises they had made to players of holidays abroad and bonus
payments in the event of the team winning promotion to the Second
Division of the SFL. That allegation is entirely without foundation
and diametrically opposed to the truth.
At the start of the season the bonus structure was agreed between the
Board and the players and both parties were delighted that it fell to
be implimented following the drama of the last day of the season.
Last Thursday evening the players representatives asked the Board to
make some minor changes th the agreed structure. The Board immediately
and unanimously acceded to that request and put the matter of
implimentation in hand.
The players and the Board enjoy an excellent relationship totally
contrary to that conveyed by the offending article. Club Captain Davie
Stewart is aware of this statement and has endorsed it on behalf of
the players.
Douglas S Dalgleish
Chairman."
Of course there is absolutely no
comment as to why Tom Carson and George Clarke were forced to
resign. Accoring to a club insider present at the board meeting
with TC and Geordie that the successful management duo were indeed
told the agreed holiday was not forthcoming and that the club would
not even discuss any finances for the coming season. Both Tom
and George were left in the untenable position of having to return to
the players with this news and duly resigned. Who are we to believe?
Whether you are a fan or not of the
two local men who got us promoted for the only the FIFTH time ever
they have been treated in a disgraceful manner. Not even a word
of thanks for their achievement this season.
CSN is disgusted by the antics at the
board and are surprised they had the gall to announce season ticket
prices in a week when they have lost all their coaching staff, knocked
back Ronnie McDonald's bid and refused any further input of cash from
outside sources. Do they really expect people to be clammering
to fork out their hard earned cash when the club is in apparent
turmoil.
So if the Daily Record got the facts
so wrong are we to presume the board are now planning to sue them?
Thought not.
Well done Dumbarton FC you're the
only club in history who can turn a promotion winning campaign into a
PR disaster in the space of five days.
CSN would like to thank both Tom
Carson and George Clarke for succeeding where others couldn't - good
luck wherever you end up - it'll probably be easier to work without
having to watch your back all the time.
