Ruthin 3-1 cemaes bay
By Chris Campbell
October 23 2002
RUTHIN opened up a three-point lead at the top after reeling off their seventh win of the season. Town knew three points was vital as Porthmadog were playing in the welsh cup, and ruthin could take full advantage and go top.

The hosts started well with lively front-runners Neil Davies and Calvin Davies both forcing saves from Jamie Roberts.

And it was not long before they took the lead when Owain Roberts crossed into the box after his 10th-minute corner had been half cleared and central defender Llion Roberts planted his header into the net.

Calvin Davies continued to prove a threat, having two further efforts saved by Roberts as the hosts looked to maintain their early momentum.

Cemaes had their moments, including a goal disallowed for offside, but their hopes faded further two minutes before the interval when Calvin Davies converted a penalty after being pulled back in the box.

Sion Roberts skimmed the bar with a strike two minutes into the second half but the visitors managed to revive their cause on 79 minutes when Steve Gilmour converted a penalty after Llion Roberts had handled in the box.

But thoughts of a comeback were quickly dampened as Ruthin restored their two-goal cushion three minutes later.

Substitute Richard Cooke crossed for Neil Davies to convert.
