Republic's John O'Shea Adds To Illustrious Medal Collection

Republic of Ireland utility man, John O'Shea, added another medal to his collection today, winning the English Premier League Title with Manchester United. A man who doesnt star in the limelight as much as his more flamboyant counterparts, O'Shea has fast become Ireland's hottest defensive property. A quiet, reserved character which keeps him out of the media's sights as much as possible serves him well in his head down, work hard style.

Todays medal add's to the previous collection of 12 medals, including 4 previous Premier League medals, a Champions League medal and a collection of cup competition medals. A fantastic coup for the man from Waterford in a very succesful career to date.

Doubted by many as to wether he would be good enough to remain at the top level with United, O'Shea has surely silenced the critics after this years performance, where he has firmly staken a claim for the right back position on the United team, holding English International's Gary Neville and Wes Brown, and young starlet Rafael at bay.

In similar mould to Denis Irwin, O'Shea keeps the defensive link with Manchester going and continues to bring top honours home to Ireland. A great achievement, not only for himself and his club, but for Irish fans the world over. Representing Ireland on the greater stages of International competition, while also being a member of a team challenging for the top prize in Europe, is surely one of his one hopes, and with his current form, he adds confidence to the Irish fans in the defence. Partnered with Richard Dunne, his Manchester rival in the club stakes, the defence has a good solid basis.

Well done John and hopefully your Interntional career will begin to mirror some of your club success's in the coming years. Qualification to the upcoming World Cup is next on the list in the International scene, and if he remains fit, he should play a big part in the efforts of the team's progression.
