Republic of Irelands Robbie Keane (right) talks during a press conference

Robbie Keane (above right) started his professional club career with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England. He scored twice on his debut at the tender age of 17 and was immediately noticed as a prospect for the future.

The next season, having cemented a place in the Wolves first team, he finished the year as the clubs top goalscorer. He made his international debut against the Czech Republic in March 1998 and proceeded to bag his first international goal against Malta in October of the same year.

On the club front he has been somewhat nomadic, having moved from club to club throughout his career and not really settling anywhere. He has played for the afore mentioned Wolves, Coventry City, Inter Milan, Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and is now back with Spurs again.

He is the countries captain and all time top international goal scorer sitting currently on 37 goals in 87 appearances. With a good bit left in the tank yet, we should se a few more goals added to that tally.
