The Lincoln site, here on Sport Network predicts us to finish 8th, is this a possibility? It’s a big difference from last season where we just avoided relegation but now can we push for promotion and return to League One.
The Lincoln site has predicted us to finish 8th this season, and after coming close to getting relegated last season, is a big turn around. My prediction has always been a top 10 spot for this coming season and with our new manager and a whole new squad, is it a possibility?
The Club has seen some decent signings and major improvements on last season, with the likes of Parkinson, McCann, Lee, Dudfield and Ross (on loan), I truly believe there is a possibility to make a top 10 position.
With 14 new players in and 13 players out, the new players will have to get used to how the others play and work well as a team if we are to make an impact and a push for promotion.
Though some of our players do have previous experience of playing together and know their style of play after playing at other clubs together, this could work in our favour. And with Pilkington and Deeney both battling it out to be our first choice goalkeeper, neither will want to let any in. We also have at least two players to fill each role to make it more challenging to get into the starting 11.
We do have good enough players to get us up but so do a few other clubs, it could be difficult to get in to the play-offs or higher with the likes of MK Dons, Swindon, Wycombe, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Peterborough, Bristol R and Walsall who are all highly rated by the bookies from 6/1 to 14/1 to become outright winners. (See our league 2 odds comparison to see the recent changes to the odds)
However we can not forget a few other clubs that could be flirting with the Play-Offs, the likes of Darlington and Accrington Stanley, who could be another club that come from the Conference and do well, then there’s Lincoln City a club that seem to always finish in the Play-Offs and one day they will do it, could this be their season.
And with the bookies putting us 25/1to 33/1 with William Hill going from 25/1 to 18/1 an outright win is off the cards but as we all know anything is possible in football.
So could this actually be a season where we go back up? I’m going to stick with my prediction of a top 10 finish. Check out the Lincoln prediction on us at: http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s261/st100938.htm
