By Tyne-Talk November 1 2009 Jonas Gutierrez's agent Pedro Jimenez-Bravo has been quoted in today's People newspaper saying that if the offer is right, Gutierrez has the option to leave in January. The 26 year old who has featured heavily in the first team since arriving at Newcastle United in July 2008 remains a regular after opting to stay at the club despite their relegation to the Championship at the end of last season.
Jimenez-Bravo said;
"We know European clubs are interested.
We have held meetings with Newcastle but there is an option for the player to leave - although it must be a good offer."
Gutierrez who is on a 5 year contract with Newcastle United after transferring from Real Mallorca has failed to find the back of the net in 43 games.
Last month Argentina International manager Diego Maradona told the media he felt that Gutierrez was too good for anything other than the level of football the Premiership can offer.
He said;
"For me, Jonas was a big discovery. Since he left (Argentina) for Europe, he has much improved.
The kid is a complete player who could play right across the line in midfield or in defence.
I still don't understand why he is playing in the second division in England, because he has the quality to be at a big European club.
For me, he easily has sufficient class to be in Premier League, and the fact Newcastle United did not have to sell him during the summer just gone is a negative for him.
However, it is positive for his club if they want to return to the top division in England."
explain please how the money would arrive in ashleys personal account?
you dont really understand how the whole thing works, do you? if they lose money, does it come from the owners account? no, business law protects the owner from that, or no-one would ever start a company and the economy would stop dead. the same law stops him from transfering assets owned by the club into his own name, including money.
its a tired old argument, when any players are sold "the money will go straight to ashley". no, it wont. most of it wont ever come to the club, once outstanding payments to former clubs, agents, and the player himself, are taken into account.
of course, by trying to bring facts into it, i'm definitley sticking up for ashley here, arent i?
no, but i would only hang him for what he has actually done, not for all all the evils of the modern world. it weakens the argument agaginst ashley when nonsense like this comes into it.
and by the way, ashley is owed over 100m by the club, if he was going to take cash out, he'd just call the loan in, surely?
Good points you bought there, but taking the money and replacing with cheap cack, is almost the same thing as transferring the money to his personal account, actually it propaply saves one transfer from there...
The incoming money/wage saved will reduce the running costs of the club, and who says that he wont reduce overdraft or even his personal debt
Hes the owner who makes decisions --> he is to blame for everything

Re: Gutierrez Agent Hints At Exit
Fact: any black ink in the books due to sales of players limits the amount Asshat will have to pour into the team (like that 20M he's about to invest). So in the end, player sales may very well directly affect Ashley's personal expenses.
thats nothing like selling players to line his own pocket though, tunyc, you can accept that i'm sure. attempting to moderate his further losses by cutting the losses made by the club is not the same as asset stripping!
(it would make sense to cut the overdraft, particularly when we read that taking the club off the market has prompted barclays to finally demand a lower overdraft limit. they extended our premiership level facility to hopefully help the sale go through. now that it wont be, the bank want our short term borrowing to come into line with other championship clubs.)
and that also ignores the reality that selling players does not raise money if they are under contract and do not ask to go. example of coloccini is one which was doen at great length in the summer by an analyst. summer 09 we owed 7.5m of his transfer fee to depor. would have to be paid before any transfer away from the club could go through. we also owed the player up to 3m over the length of his contract in bonuses payable immediately if he left. that meant a cost of over 10m to sell him! we will by now have paid another 2.5m of the fee, so it would 'only' cost around 7m to sell him in january.
Another good point pal. Not saying your not right but didnt Ashley slag Shepherd off for not paying for transfers up front. Just not sure if thats the way Ashley is paying for the players. Never read anything on it like so Im sure the analyst is right.
I thought the deals were up front under Ashley, I am sure Nolan was. If Jonas's isn't then keep him until he puts in his transfer request or after the world cup A the moment we can afford these players so we hold the cards.
Yeah TTID. If they have a decent world cup then teams that the players might not be able to knock back may come knocking. If not, and we are promoted, then they can stay and fight.

I believe what Maradona meant to say was, "His end product sucked when he left Argentina and kept on sucking". He then said that, "Owen left because he had a dick in his @#$%&".
Or something like that, maybe he was talking about something else, or maybe he was high, who knows.
Who knows whether he was talking about something else that is, he was definitely high.
"I am happy at Newcastle and I want to be here next year. I want to be here next year in the Premier League and nothing else."
Though I must admit - it doesn't sound right.
"I left it (the mask) in the changing room because I have read something in the newspapers that I didn't like about me, that I want to leave Newcastle, so I didn't want to celebrate because it's not true," he said.
Personally I think it was because he wasn't expecting to score
His 20 mins yesterday were very good and his goal class. What worries me a bit though is if he stays after January, the nearer it gets to the world cup will he hide even more during games as he wont want to be injured. We need everyone at 100%.
Biffins is right, the lad won't go into a 50-50 tackle with the risk of the world cup either way he knows if Newcastle doesn't get promoted he can still go to a team playing in the top division regardless of the country
