Lovenkrands Dumped By Letter

Former Rangers forward Peter Lovenkrands has been dumped by Newcastle United by letter. The 29 year old was one of only a few players who expressed their desire to stay at the club once Newcastle were relegated, however since the end of the season he has been linked with Sunderland, Wigan Athletic and West Ham.

The Chronicle reported from a source close to Lovenkrands;

"Peter was keen to stay on and help fight for the cause.

Instead he received a letter telling him not to bother turning up for the first day of pre-season training today.

He is devastated and upset by this.

Despite the pain of relegation he wanted to talk about a new deal and put some wrongs right from last season.

You would have thought that was the sort of player Newcastle needed this season, but clearly they have other ideas."

Lovenkrands who signed until the end of the 2008/09 season in January had expected formal notification during a face to face meeting, rather than by post.

Chris Hughton took charge of pre-season training from today.

Typical idiots who are running the club.

If you want to buy us - just send an email.

If you contract is not going to be renewed.. we will send a letter.

If the fans want to know what is going on... we will say absolutely nothing!

Once again it is a f@ck*ng disgrace, he was one of the few players that tried and we treat him like sh@t. F#ck@ng Ashley has no clue how to run a club or treat the decent players right

It is a bit of a puzzle as he would be more than decent in the championship. Fair enough if he had turned down a contract offer but it seems like he has been let go without a fair hearing.

He wanted to stay, and not on the big contract like the rest of the f@cks, so we could have got him on wages that suited both parties, he would have added the talent that we needed and he had the right attitude. F@cks knows what the toon were thinking, but nothing suprises me now after the last couple of years

All I'm going to say is that if the front office wanted to embarass and cripple the club, they couldn't do a better job.

this statement comes from a player hoping to secure a contract to play somewhere - anywhere - next season.
he was sacked in dec, and let go again in june.

if i was his agent i would look to put some spin on it that makes it look like someone elses fault, so as not to damage my players chances of getting a deal elsewhere.

Another top one LMK.

People will say Im full of sh17 or why didnt I say earlier but I cant say how I know as I could get into trouble with regards to my work. Loven was gone at the end of the season whether we stayed up or went down. This was known by both parties much earlier than this story coming to light.
