Newcastle manager Alan Shearer has expressed his disappointment at Howard Webb's management of yesterday's game between Newcastle and Fulham at St James' Park. Shearer and assistant manager Iain Dowie both confronted Webb at the end of the match after he disallowed a Mark Viduka goal, putting Newcastle back in the relegation zone.

Shearer who hung his head in despair at the end of the game said in his post match interview;

"We are bitterly disappointed at the disallowed goal. I have seen it and I can't see anything that's wrong with it.

Probably what has happened is the goal on Monday night from Steven Taylor has been highlighted that much this week that one or two people have thought, 'We might try to clamp down on that this weekend'.

Newcastle Manager Alan Shearer gestures as he talks to referee Howard Webb (left in green) as he lea

You are allowed to put someone in front of the goalkeeper - I am not aware that you are meant to get out of the way of him.

I thought their player was blocking him more than Kevin Nolan was, so I am disappointed with that."

At the time of the interview Shearer had not had a chance to speak to the referee in person, he added when asked

"Not yet, but I am going to try.

I thought he got the big decision wrong today. When he looks at it, he might think that as well."

To be honest I think that Shearer is spot on with that analysis.

"Probably what has happened is the goal on Monday night from Steven Taylor has been highlighted that much this week that one or two people have thought, 'We might try to clamp down on that this weekend"

Basically he has got it in his head that he was gunna make sure no one got away with anything and was probably looking for reasons to give fouls against us.

Yep, a referee decision is going to be the ultimate cause for a relegation - i don't think that has ever been the case before but Howard Webb has signaled the end of a premiership club. Im not saying that we don't deserve to be where we are, and one goal shouldn't be the difference between going down and staying up when you look to referee's to get the big stuff right, and he didn't. Because he craves attention. It does seem that whenever he does a big game, his name leads the headlines the next day. shame.
