His name was attributed to quotes in the Metro today saying;
"There have been some changes at Newcastle recently. I have experienced six different managers in four years, and it is too much.
Every season is getting worse and worse despite the lofty goals of the club. I therefore decided to leave, to try to find better exposure."
He then went on to imply he would be forced to stay at Newcastle, but that Lyon could have already put an offer on the table.
"It is for the club to decide, If Newcastle decide to keep me, I will stay. I will have no choice.
I am waiting. They [Lyon] may actually have contacted my agent, but I did not get feedback.
What is certain is that Lyon is a good club. Whether they really want me remains to be seen."
These comments backed up those of his agent Frank Peslerbe who told Setanta.com;
"Lyon have contacted us regarding Charles. The challenge of playing for them is attractive to him.
They have a long-term project and play Champions League football year in, year out, which is something that Charles would fancy.
It could help him bolster his career and move forward within higher surroundings, which is what he eyes.
It is an interesting option, but both clubs."
Do we really need this hassle every time a new transfer window comes by? Should we just release him and let him fulfil whatever career move his wishes to make?
