McCall
Like any Motherwell fan in attendance I thoroughly enjoyed the performance, particularly, the first half on Saturday. BUT we can’t afford to get carried away with the performance and the result.
We played, arguably, our best eleven on the day, and a look at the bench shows some of our problems. Only Steven Saunders has played any serious amount of first team football, and the only player missing on the day was the suspended Ross Forbes.
Stuart McCall keeps playing down any hopes of bringing anyone else in, I hope all he is doing is playing down our expectations. Hopefully before 31st August we do see a few come in, one for each department of the team for me.
Otherwise we are only two injuries or suspensions away from a very inexperienced team.
Even the result on the day flattered us slightly, given Inverness hit woodwork twice and Randolph pulled off a stunning save. I think we deserved to win but I am not sure there was three goals between the teams on the day.
Hopefully these are the signs we are indeed in for another good season, and as McCall said after the game, we can finish higher than last season by making 5th or 4th, only time will tell…..
