IS WEIR LOCO TO LET MICHIE GO?

Scott Michie
By Graham
June 5 2007
Montrose FC last week announced the clubs pre season friendlies and news also filtered through that striker Scott Michie has been sold to Inverurie Loco's for a fee around the £5,000 mark. Michie who didn't get a look in once Jim Weir took over was looking for regular first team football and when Weir signed John Baird the writing was on the wall.

Michie who signed at the start of the season for a fee in the region of £10,000 knew his days were numbered when he couldn't break in to the starting line up towards the end of last season and once the John Baird signing had been announced its the authors understanding that Michie started to look for a new club himself.  Inverurie splashed the cash and have a striker more than capable of bagging goals in the Highland League.  Here is hoping he doesn't come back to haunt us in the Scottish Cup or even the pre season game.

The club have also announced pre season friendlies.  The first of which is against Brechin at Glebe Park on the 14th of July.  Dundee will be the first visitors to the revamped Links Park on the 17th.  We are then heading north and playing Inverurie Locos on the 20th then Cove Rangers on the 22nd. We are then away to Carnoustie on the 24th. With one more game to be announced to offically open the new pitch and facilities on Saturday the 28th of July.

The rumour mill is stating that its an English Premiership team who will be opening the new pitch on the 28th but we will wait and see.

Can't help feeling Michie's talents are on the wane - just ask Peterhead fans.

As for pre-season - It looks like the Blackburn Rovers visit is dead in the water.
