Wheater - Dejected.
With only eight games remaining in the Premier League, it would appear quite probable that the team will go down this season. While investment has been cut compared to previous seasons, on paper we still have a team that you feel should have enough to survive - but on the pitch we simply cannot score enough goals. If you only win one game in eighteen matches (albeit against Liverpool), it seems difficult to see how a team is able to survive in a league that does not tolerate a great deal of mistakes. While in January I thought that we should still have enough in us and the team to survive, like many other fans I think relegation is now the most likely prospect come May.
It is painful to see how little of our chances we are able to put away. Slotting these chances away is the difference between us and other teams in many games this season. We also are unable to perform against fellow bottom half opposition; we took no points whatsoever against West Brom, the only team below us in the league. With the international break this coming week 3 points against Bolton the following weekend is crucial to even stay in the race.
