City beat Spurs

Manchester City opened up a six point lead at the top of the Premier League with an incredible 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The result piles pressure on United ahead of Sunday's massive clash against Arsenal at Ashburton Grove.

After a goalless first-half, David Silva’s opener kicked-off an amazing nine minutes in which four goals were scored.

Joleon Lescott doubled City’s lead just three minutes later – before Spurs quickly restored parity through Jermaine Defoe and Gareth Bale.

Defoe seized on a mistake by City defender Stefan Savic to round Joe Hart and fire home, before Bale pulled things level with a wonderful strike from outside of the penalty box.

However, with the game heading for a draw, City won a penalty in the closing seconds. Ledley King hauled down Mario Balotelli, and the controversial striker dusted himself off to slot the ball coolly beyond the reach of Brad Friedel.

The last-gasp victory maintains City’s 100% home record in the league – and leaves United trailing them by six points. The Red Devils are under enormous pressure to pick up a positive result in North London at Arsenal in Sunday’s second top-flight fixture.
