A Defence of Kenny
By John Christie
December 20 2011
Kenny Dalglish built a great attacking team that swept all before it twenty five years ago. The wonderful fast, one touch style is said by many Reds of a maturing vintage to have been the best team we have had. Second time round Kenny’s already putting his stamp on our style of play. We have more freedom of movement at the expense, at times, of control which dominated Rafas style.  It be a work in progress, and as fans we realise the importance of patience.

One part, the most important part, I believe, is now completed.Liverpoolhave now the best defence in the league. Reina, many believe the very best, Skrtel, under Kenny, has rediscovered his best form and has a great understanding with Agger.  Agger is one ofLiverpool’s most important players, his ability to carry the ball forward, instigating many attacks, is Hansenesque. Enrique and Johnson are both strong, fast runners with the ball, both hate to hoof, but would rather rampage forward.

With the emergence of Kelly, Flannigan and Robinson our full back berths have never looked so healthy.  Note also, Kenny’s not been afraid to demote a legend in Carragher. Kenny’s defence is sorted; no other team has conceded less, but still a work in progress.

Build from the back, nothing worse leaking goals when your struggling to score.
