They were undone by a goal from former Leeds player Dan Harding - a man who failed at Elland Road, but had the last laugh at the weekend. The main Soton threat though was winger Jason Puncheon, who gave young left back Aidy White a torrid time. The full back was left exposed too ofter, with little help from those around him, but never got close to the former Plymouth man. The first half was one way traffic, and Grayson must have been releived to be only one down at the break.
The second half was more of an even affair - Andy Hughes swapping to the left back position, and doing a decent job on Puncheon, but despite an improvement, there was little in the way of creativity. Too often Leeds pumped hopeful balls forward, which were meat and drink for the Saints back line.
Leeds seem unaware of their best line up - especially in midfield. In recent weeks there has been Gradel, Snodgrass, Kilkenny, Johnson, Howson, Doyle and Mcsheffrey all used, and in a variety of positions. This lack of stability is clearly causing a problem, and it needs addressing.
In form Millwall are the visitors to Elland Road next Monday, and it really is a must win game in front of the watching Sky camera's....
