After the 2-0 setback against Brentford Wadsworth suffered another blow. After the opening game of the season striker Martin Smith complained of a sore lower back and left hamstring pains.
Smith's game on Saturday was his first competitive match for seventeen months after he was injured for the whole of last season. At this stage it is impossible to tell how long he will be out for but the Smith Injury Saga is becoming quite a joke.
In an interview with Huddersfield Town World the manager said:
“It’s a sad tale
really.” “He’s got a problem that needs to be looked at by the medical people. After about 20 minutes on Saturday, he felt very immobile in his lower back.
“He became very ineffective from there on in. It’s a big blow for both him and us. He needs to get the medical checks that are required and we can make an assessment from there on in.”
