Pools match at Charlton one of many iced off

CT - happy with decision

Hartlepool United’s first ever visit to play Charlton in a League game has been postponed because of the bad weather. The Valley pitch is covered, but frost has made it unplayable, while the surrounding area is not considered safe for fans with more snow and ice forecast.
The postponement will be one of many this weekend, but boss Chris Turner was pleased that the decision was made early to prevent Pools and their fans making a wasted journey.
It’s been clear for some days now that the match was in serious doubt, and the weather hasn’t got any better.
The news also makes the work put in last weekend to get the game against Oldham on look more worthwhile as Pools attempt to avoid a fixture backlog. Winning made it even better.
Now fingers will be crossed at Victoria Park in the hope that the weather eases to allow the next scheduled game, at home to MK Dons on Saturday February 16 to go ahead.
Nobody will be more keen to get going than Pools’ new signing Joe Gamble, who was set to make his debut in midfield at Charlton after signing from Cork City this week.
However, at least the postponement gives him a few more days in training to get to know his new team-mates.

As of this morning there are two games still on in League 1 and one in L2.

Reminds me of the 70's when games were constantly called off and fixtures piled up. Pools panel seemed to be involved every week.

Global warming, eh?
