Morris scores twice
Bradford 1 Rams 2
The Rams kept up their superb run of results as they defeated Bradford courtesy of two strikes by Lee Morris.
Morris struck in injury time of the first period to send the Rams in at half-time one nil up. Morris received the ball with his back to goal, his turn beat three Bradford defenders and his shot was to good for Paston to save.
The second half was mainly one-way traffic with Bradford trying to get the equaliser. Another fine performance by Andy Oakes in goal for the Rams kept the Bantams at bay until the hour mark. Bradford then produced a cross of pinpoint accuracy from Summerbee. The cross was met a glancing blow by Gray giving Andy Oakes no chance of a save.
As the second half went on Bradford looked the more likely team to take all the points but Derby held on and in the 81st minute Morris struck for the second time. Taking to ball past Gavin in the Bradford defence Morris let fly a shot across Paston, which crept in off the post.
It has to be said that Bradford were unlucky not to share the points but a determined Rams side extends their unbeaten run to five games and move up to 16th in the league.
A firmer test may be on the cards for Saturday’s visit of West Ham United but it now looks that George Burley may at last have instilled some steel and some determination into the Rams squad.
