New signing Alex Nimely was responsible for all three goals, setting up two, and scoring a debut goal too. His pass to McSheffrey set up the first on 35 minutes, his goal arriving after 56 minutes, while his pass to Bell set up a chance that Clive Platt couldn't miss just after the hour mark, but did, which was thankfully put into his own goal by Boro defender Matthew Bates.
McDonald did pull a fairly lame goal back for the away side on 65 minutes, but it was the home side that could have added to the goals tally, with Nimely only denied a second goal (On 85 minutes), thanks to a superb save from Coyne in the Middlesboro goal.
Coventry City's other new signing, Hermann Hreidarsson, also enjoying a solid debut, and gave the defence a more solid look, while Tony Mowbray honoured the gentleman's agreement between the two clubs and didn't select Lucas Jutkiewicz (Saving the bookies a fortune, as those who like a flutter would surely have backed him to score against his former club?!).
Thomson and Arca were dismissed for the visitors, know doubt leading to 'Nine Man Boro Lose' headlines amongest lazy journalists, the reality being Arca was only thirty seconds ahead of his team-mates in going back to the changing rooms. One or two other players were lucky not to see red too, a fact obviously spotted by Boro boss Tony Mowbray, who substituted two of the players in question.
