The Blues squeezed home into a last four rendezvous avec our beloved Arsenil, after another thoroughly unconvincing display, this time against struggling Bournemouth. The hosts are seemingly making a habit of scratching out wins. It remains doubtful whether they can actually win anything this season, so in the possible absence of any silverware, it would be a consolation if the team actually played some sexy football, but even that seems to be beyond them.
Conte, sensing the fact that his team were floundering in the second half, had to hook off Pedro and Willian, and turn yet again to Eden Hazard. This move was vindicated when the Belgian back-heeled a pass into the onrushing Morata who duly slotted the ball past Boruc to grab a late winner, thereby recording his first goal at home with either foot! Earlier, Willian had finished off a well-executed move, but his own fine first half could not be repeated after the interval. Perhaps if it had not been for the wastefulness of the Cherries, the English champions might even have lost.
Anyways, our next assignment is away to Evercrap, a team that has been awarded seven penalties this season already. For some peculiar reason, referees seem less sympathetic when Chelsea players are fouled in the penalty area.....
