Magpies Outclassed

By Gary Watton
December 2 2017

Despite the handicap of conceding an early goal, the Blues bounced back to secure a convincing win against our regular punch bags of Newcastle United. It was a highly satisfactory performance, graced by the silky skills and finishing of the incomparable Eden Hazard. Scoring twice, including a cheeky second half penalty, the Belgian maestro could easily have scored five or six.

It wasn't just a one-man matinee. Kante ran the show, pulling the strings with his knack of transforming defence into attack. Special mention must also go to the returning Victor Moses, who played like someone who had a point to prove. He certainly made a good impression - and the competition for places on the right flank is now very healthy. As much as the Chelsea faithful have warmed to the speed merchant Zappacosta, they will have appreciated the all-round display by Vic Moses, dribbling past opponents and setting up one goal and being fouled which prompted a deserved penalty.

On another day, the champions would have scored five or six (a recurring theme), but with our front two both finding the net, Conte's men remain in fine fettle. My only gripe is the omission of the brilliant Willian. If only we could also find room for the dynamic Brazilian in our starting eleven, we might produce even more fireworks.
