Mourinho Nullified

By Gary Watton
November 5 2017

Crisis-hit Chelsea recorded their third consecutive Premier League win and their second successive clean sheet in the league plus their third shut-out against ManUre in a year, which is a pretty good return for a besieged team. In so doing, the champions remain nine points adrift of runaway leaders, Manchester Mercenaries, whilst closing the gap on second spot to a solitary point. In spite of post-match protestations to the contrary by that laughable tosspot Mourinho, Chelsea fully deserved to win this compelling contest, after taking the match by the scruff of the neck after half time.

It fell to Alvaro Morata to break the deadlock with a show stopping header from yet another Azpilicueta assist. The Blues were energetic and played with much gusto and a high tempo. They were a far cry from the listless outfit that bluffed in Rome. Chelsea now need to kick on from here. Tis no good having mediocre performances followed by 'reactions'. Consistency is called for. Also, the team needs to be a lot more ruthless in front of goal. A failure to convert any number of chances once again left the team vulnerable to a late and unjust equaliser.

Oh well. That's Chelsea in a nutshell - consistently awful against Crystal Palace and consistently effective against hyped Manchester United. Some things never change.
