Guus Hiddink has spoken out and revealed his frustration and anger at the robbery of our place in the champion’s league final at the hands of referee Ovrebo. The Norwegian official was seemingly heavily influenced by UEFA and the media meaning that it is Barcelona that will now run out onto the turf in Rome to take part in what is now a tainted final.
“What happened against Barcelona exhausted me,” said Hiddink.
“For two days, even normal questions drew a reaction from me in a wrong way because I was exhausted, angry.
“It was like ‘don’t come near me’. It was a bad reaction. I knew that. People kept their distance. They stayed away for two days. I don’t have to apologise.
“You feel this huge frustration at the injustice. I have not had that kind of anger before, except in my private life. But I will miss this intensity when I am gone.”
The days and nights of frustration, disbelief and overwhelming feelings of injustice is what every Chelsea fan has experienced and is still experiencing since what is becoming known as “Black Wednesday”.
Retribution and justice might be some time coming and it is perhaps unclear what form it should take – but it will be worth waiting for.
