Chelsea/Inter in Deco-Quaresma swap
By dixon9
April 20 2009
The Italian media are reporting that Inter Milan and Chelsea are lining up a swap deal exchanging Quaresma for Deco. The reports state that Quaresma will be left on loan at Stamford Bridge although it is not clear if the Deco move to Inter would be a loan or a straight transfer sale.

Deco of course is a Mourinho favourite and Quaresma would provide a top quality wide option that we have been lacking since the departures of Robben and Duff.

Deco had revealed previously that he had to choose between Inter and Chelsea in June so presumably wouldn´t be against the move.

Inter bought Quaresma from Porto for around £18m in the summer but he got off to an indifferent start and was consequently loaned out to Chelsea in January.

There are other options quoted such as a swap deal exchanging Quaresma for Jermaine Jenas at Spurs but the Chelsea Deco option appears to be first choice.

Quaresma, Chelsea

Quaresma has made telling contributions during his brief spells on the pitch for Chelsea but has been hampered by being cup-tied in the Champions League and poor fitness since his arrival in London.

Many Chelsea fans have been asking why the Portuguese winger hasn’t appeared more in league and cup games but presumably this could be due to Hiddink finding his feet and looking for a settled side ASAP for all competitions within a short time-table.

Hopefully the deal will go through and whilst I recognise Deco´s creative ability we do have an overload of quality midfielders in the squad.

No doubt Quaresma will be playing for the reserves tonight.

The fact that he may well do could indicate at least an intention to use him in the first team this season?

I would like to see him get a run-out against Everton in place of say Kalou and maybe rest Ballack, push Essien up in midfield and slot Mikel in the holding role.

Updates tonight?

I am hopeful of doing updates tonight
We are playing WBA

It will be interesting to see if HUUS rests a few on Wednesday, however Everton will be on a high after yesterday's dramatic penalty shoot-out and there are always tough to play against.

dont undertsand the quaresma situation. We brought him presumably as a relacement for j.cole but has started just 1 game... he has flair and creativity which is something our other midfielders lack. lampard, ballack, essien ect.. are all terrific midfielders but we need someone with a bit of suttlety. In my opinion we shud of kept gudjohnsson (cant spell this name, the icelandic bloke!).

Agree on what you say re Quaresma BC.

How old is Gudjonsson now? He wasn´t getting played regularly at the time so opted to move to Barcelona - he must be 31-32?
