Newcastle United 0-2 Chelsea: A Stroll in St James' Park
Speedy Recovery
By Since66 April 4 2009 What should have been a difficult time for Chelsea at St James' Park turned out to be a stroll in the spring sunshine in the North East of England. Over 52,000 turned out to welcome 'another messiah' home in Alan Shearer (remember Kevin Keegan), but the homecoming party turned into a damp flat squid.
Had Michael Owen's claim for an own goal been given fifteen minutes from time - the ball clearly was over the line - described by Paul Merson 'the ball was almost touching the net,' 'we could have had fifteen minutes of mayhem,' additionally described by Paul Merson, instead Steve Harper saved one on one with Kalou in what was Chelsea's 13th shot on target and should have been 3-0.
Super Frank opened the scoring with a close range header after two Coloccini errors in quick succession - perhaps Coloccini had too much on his mind, especially with all that hair - and then ten minutes later, Malouda nipped in from a Super Frank pass to make it 2-0.
It was Malouda's first goal since last October and it appears Malouda is enjoying his new lease of Chelsea life under the tenure of HUUS.
Best wishes and a speedy recovery goes out to Toon's Peter Lovenkrands after he was stretchered off in the first half after an innocious clash with Malouda.
Lovenkrands was taken to hospital wearing breathing apparatus, Shearer said after the match that Lovenkrands was in a stable condition.
(Match highlights vid also now in the article above).
There seems to be a quiet, confident, relaxed air about the team at the moment. They know what they have to do and are getting on with it in general (with the exception of Spurs).
Excellent result.

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
