Wigan Preview: Good News Friday

COME ON CHELSEA
By Since66
February 28 2009
First we were given the news that Michael Essien is finally back on the comeback trail as he is due to line-up for the reserves at Aston Villa on Monday night. Almost immediately, Chelsea announced a price-freeze on ALL non-corporate match and season tickets for next season - League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Champions League.

This is the fourth year in a row that match ticket prices have remained unchanged.

There, even better news for me and Since88 and ALL season ticket holders because with the VAT rate of 15% still in place until December 2009, me and Since88 will be saving 2.5% on £650 which makes our ticket price for next season a lovely £635.

Peter Kenyon, Chelsea's Chief Executive said after the announcement was made, "In these uncertain economic times we believed that a price freeze for the fourth consecutive year was absolutely the right decision for our supporters.

KENYON THINK

"We appreciate the monetary and other demands on our fans and value their loyalty. We believe Chelsea offers excellent value for money on and off the pitch which is why Stamdford Bridge has been sold out to our fans for every game played here."

Today Chelsea and Hiddink take on Wigan, who last season ended Chelsea's interest in regaining the Premiership title, with that late late injury time equaliser at The Shed End of Stamford Bridge. Shiver me timbers!!!

Bosingwa is suspended after 'throwing away' his fifth yellow card of the season at Villa Park last week and I expect 21 year old Michael Mancienne to replace him and to make his full home League debut.

Bossie Celebrates

As from Sunday 1st March, the five booking suspension rule will result only in a warning, but get 10 bookings before the 2nd Sunday in April, player(s) will then serve a two match suspension.

Kenyon gets a lot of unfair stick in my opinion - deserves a round of applause for freezing the tickets yet again (although we were pretty expensive origonally!).

Be interesting to see if Hiddink goes with Mancienne or Ferriera to replace Bosingwa - or maybe he may keep Mancienne on the bench and bring him on as an xtra holding midfielder if we fall to deep again.

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
