Burton have played Morecambe a total of 7 times in the Conference... and theyve lost every single time. Burtons recent form however gives reason to be optimistic that this demon can be defeated tomorrow.
Morecambe... Things used to be so different. Before Conference football the sides met 16 times in league competition. Burton won 11 of these games, Drew 3 and lost just 2. Then conference football began and since then Morecambe have become the biggest bogey team in Burtons history. Theyve met 7 times in the Conference. Burton have lost all 7 of those games.
Earlier this season Burton were thrashed 4-0 by Morecambe at the Pirelli. That was a time when Burton fans were calling for the head of Nigel Clough. Now however things have changed, Burton are putting in fine performances every game and this is a perfect oppurtunity to end the curse against Morecambe.
Chris Hall despite recovering from flu for the Grays game has fallen ill again and will not travel to Morecambe. This could see Andy Ducros moving to the wing. Darren Tinson should be able to play after recovering from flu.
Chris Moore is likely to be named on the bench. He was back on the scoresheet for Burton in a midweek reserves game. He looked lively, just like he used to. But the way Shaun Harrad and Jon Shaw are playing at the moment it will be hard to drop one from the starting 11.
Young Star John Brayford has been named in the squad after also excelling in the reserves match. He has already played for his country and Clough feels its time to give the youngster a more important role in the team. He will probably start on the bench.
Come on you Brewers!
