Burnley 2 Tottenham Hotspur 1

Deadly duo on target again as Clarets roll on, Spurs’ title hopes were dealt a huge blow as they became the latest team to feel the wrath of re-born Burnley.

The Clarets extended their unbeaten run to eight league matches following a breathless second half, where Ashley Barnes stroked home a dramatic later winner after returning Spurs striker Harry Kane had cancelled out Chris Wood’s opening goal.

Burnley’s in-form strikers now have 11 between them in the unbeaten run this calendar year, spearheading the Clarets' climb away from danger.

And pitted against a side coming off four league wins without star striker Kane, Burnley’s latest three points was arguably their best yet.

The match started in a raucous manner, with the Clarets willing to press Spurs when out of possession.

As Spurs struggled for rhythm in the opening minutes, Burnley kept shape while Wood and Barnes tried to squeeze the away side.

Young flyer Dwight McNeil also showed flashes with his directness, proving problematic for Tottenham.

Great team performance. Fully deserved.

Having said that the big two games of the week are yet to come. If we play like that we should win them both.

Another fantastic three points for the Clarets (my money was on Spurs tbh),only caught bits of the match yesterday but from what I saw Burnley looked worthy winners.

That win was much more than 3 points, Ashley Barnes reaction to his goal and what it meant explains it in a way that I can not.Pochi whatever his name is and his reaction at the final whistle brought pure joy to my good self, as Clarets we live in the best of times. McNeil is going under the radar but that lad is something special imo. Tom Heaton and that save.............jeepers.

SD - what a manager!! Canny bit of business getting Mcneil to sign a long contract, worth his weight in gold in the last few games.I will wake up early to watch tonight's game. I hope he sticks to 442
