Burnley 1 Liverpool 3

By Burnley FC
December 5 2018

The Clarets remain in the Premier League’s bottom three but showed the stomach for the fight as they pushed title-chasing Liverpool all the way in a rousing Turf Moor performance.

Jack Cork’s second league goal of the season nine minutes into the second half threatened to end the Reds’ unbeaten record as Burnley sensed an end to their seven-game winless run.

Two goals in seven minutes from the ageless James Milner and substitute Roberto Firminho dashed those hopes as Liverpool’s rapier-like response brought them back to within two points of defending champions Manchester City at the top of the table.

But Sean Dyche’s new-look side showed the character and ability that remains within the camp as they restored belief with a performance they will need to repeat and which wasn’t reflected in the margin of a Liverpool win embellished by Xherdan Shaqiri’s injury-time strike.

Dyche made five changes to the Clarets’ starting line-up in a bid to shake things up following the dismal showing at Crystal Palace at the weekend.

And the response was just what the manager – and the home supporters – would have wanted as Burnley took the initiative to rattle the unbeaten Reds from the off.

Phil Bardsley, back in the side at right-back, set the tone with a couple of thunderous early tackles which immediately lifted the mood inside Turf Moor.

A lot more bite from the Clarets tonight, I thought Bardsley played well, but again the guys at the back didn't get close enough to them at critical times, Once again Hart with some good saves one in particular kept the score down.

I am sorry FC but Hart is not a "fit" his spectacular blinds the failings. If fit Pope or Heaton for me way in front of Hart.I have held back from making this comment although I came to this conclusion some time back and will go further in saying his signing will be our undoing.

At last a great game and worth the entrance money.
Klopp's comments = embarrassing.
Dyche right to have a go at him.
There is a video clip floating round of a jumping tackle made by Milner that wins the ball and Klopp is ecstatic.
Two days on and it continues to fester.
There has never been ill feeling between the two clubs.
But there is now.
