Eddie Howe celebrates a year in charge of the Clarets next Monday and it will be a happy anniversary for the Burnley boss after watching his side outplay promotion fancies Middlesbrough to enhance their own top six credentials.
First half goals from Jay Rodriguez and new permanent signing Kieran Trippier capped one of Burnley's best away performances of the season as Boro were beaten at the Riverside for only the second time this term.
The Clarets never looked like surrendering the points once Rodriguez struck an early blow to claim his 14th goal of the season and with another clean sheet added to their recent collection, a seventh win in nine Championship games became almost a formality.
