Alastair Campbell Summarises The Arsenal Game
By Alastair Campbell
March 8 2010
I would be hard-pressed to say Arsenal did not deserve the three points. But when you've managed to cancel out a first-half lead with a superbly taken equaliser by David Nugent, it is equally hard not to feel disappointed. Still only one away point all season, and only four away matches to go.

Where is the away win to come from? Will it be Wigan? Will it be Hull? Will it be Sunderland? Or Birmingham? They are all games we will go to with perhaps more hope than we took to the Emirates. Surely one, maybe two, will yield a win, maybe all four will gain us points?

Arsenal is the closest ground to my home in North London, so it was nice not to have to set off too early. Nice to be able to see a chunk of
Soccer Saturday, complete with their film package on Ladies Day at Burnley last week - highly recommended for men who like their ladies forward, like the ones filmed leaving kissmarks on shirts and jockstraps on the dressing room tour.

Nice too to hear
Matt Le Tissier rightly saying that I always talked sense - I had been interviewed for the film and praised his mastery of the English language compared with Paul Merson. As Le Tiss commented, it was not exactly the greatest accolade, but he took it, and to Jeff Stelling's amazement predicted a one-all draw at the Emirates.

For a few marvellous minutes, it looked like Le Tiss might be right.
Cesc Fabregas, announced before the match as Arsenal fans' Player of the Month for the fifth month running, had put Arsenal ahead with a fabulous goal created by Samir Nasri, who dinked the ball over the defence, Fabregas reading it quickest, and sliding the ball past Brian Jensen. But when Fabregas limped off injured, exactly as he had done at Turf Moor (an exit which saw a sudden dive in Arsenal's quality), and then Nugent scored, I really did feel we were going to get something.
