The Clarets Secure The Play Offs
By TheLongside.co.uk

After a long hard season the Clarets finally secured their play off spot this afternoon in the last game of the season with an impressive 4-0 victory at home to Bristol City. At long last the fans nerves were finally settled, with the Clarets finishing in 5th place on 76 points.

Owen Coyle has made history today by becoming the first Burnley manager to take a Clarets team to the Championship play offs, the very likeable chappie from Scotland who arrived as our new messiah has today achieved the first stage of becoming our very own GOD. The final stage of his inauguration will be finalised when he delivers us into the promised land of The Premership.

One thing is for sure though, even if we fail over the next 2/3 games he has certainly given Burnley fans, a season to remember, two fantastic cup runs, including wins against Premiership opposition, a 5th place finish in the Championship, and some wonderful football to boot, he is certain to achieve cult status. His passion for the game, his ability to earn respect from his players, his warmth and sincerity when dealing with the media and above all his genuine belief to reward the fans with good football is almost certain to have many club chairman looking upon us with envy and they are sure to be coming a knocking for his services, this will be even more inevitable if we do eventually reach the Premiership.

We now have coming up a two legged play off semi-final against Reading with the first leg at home on Saturday next, and with Sheffield United up against Preston for the other final spot, we could possibly be up for a mouth watering play off final against our local rivals Preston. This game would surely be one to savour.

But Mr Coyle whatever happens from now on in good or bad, I for one will look back at this season with nothing but praise for what you have achieved. You have certainly put Burnley back on the map, it is heartwarming to read in the press and listen to the media singing the praises of the way little old Burnley have been playing their football this season I wish you the very best of luck over the next 2/3 games, and may the best team make it to Heaven

OC has certainly put us in the limelight this season. Now just 3 more wins, ....... then I couldn't care less if we lost the next 38 games. (Sm14)

SC on SSN today was given the Nobbers game to watch, he must have been shrinking in his seat having to listen to them all go on about how superb a job OC had done and how good the football was we had played this season.
Jewell actually said OC was lucky to have got the job as it could have been his.

I thought Jewell came across as a right knob with that comment.

OC has certainly proved to be the right man for the job. Whether or not we make it this season, the future is very bright indeed.
