CAMARA BRACE DEFEATS VILLA

Aston Villa failed to build on last weekend's win over arch-rivals Birmingham as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat against Wigan at the JJB Stadium.

Jimmy Bullard opened the scoring for Wigan with a great strike before Angel pulled one back for the visitors. However, a quick-fire brace from Henri Camara ensured that Liam Ridgewell's neat finish was only a mere consolation.

The match was a scrappy affair for the opening 25 minutes until Jimmy Bullard came up with a moment of magic to break the deadlock.

The Wigan midfielder made the most of Gary Cahill's half clearance as he volleyed high into the net from the edge of the box..

Things could have got worse for Villa before the break as Ziegler threatened to double the lead but Gareth Barry almost hit back, forcing a smart save from John Filan.

Villa came out a stronger team in the second half and only seven minutes in, Juan Pablo Angel got them on level terms.

Baros fed the ball to substitute Gabriel Agbonlahor who rolled the ball across goal to give the Columbian striker an easy tap-in.

However, Henri Camara undid all of the hard work from the visitors as he scored two goals in five minutes.

The Senegalese striker beat Sorensen at his near-post on the hour mark before exchanging passes with Chimbonda just minutes later before firing home to put the result beyond doubt.

Liam Ridgewell gave Villa hope with 25 minutes left as he flicked Barry's delivery past Filan but it was too little too late for a Villa side who will record their lowest ever Premiership points tally unless they beat both Man City and Liverpool in their final two games of the season.
