He wont be there
Burnley beat Man U at their ground. Do these teams have better players than us? I really don't think so, so how do you explain the craven performances of Arsenal at home to Man and Chelsea?
Well at least Arsene hasn't changed his mind that we were awful last week. He has watched the match several times since and can still find no consolation. The performance remains as bad as ever from whatever angle he observed it.
Inhibited
So how does he explain it? In one word he says they were inhibited; they played with the handbrake on. Well call me a cynic but I see it differently, I call it laziness, arrogance, idleness and a complete lack of fire of in the belly. His team hasn't got a backbone and until they get one there will be no league title through his bum of the week strategy. What kind of instructor allows a pupil to drive with the handbrake on?
Bum of the week strategy
So let us consider the bum of the week strategy, the idea based on Man U performance in winning the title last year. The fact that they only beat one top four team last year didn't stop them winning the title. Liverpool beat them twice and failed to win the title.
"From December 1940 to May 1941 Joe Louis took on a series of challengers at the rate of one per month. Rightly or wrongly, history labelled this series of fights as "The Bum Of The Month Club". (East Side Boxing)
Man U won the title because they beat the bum of the week club, those teams that were in the bottom half of the table. Wenger seized on this strategy as a way of winning the title (To be fair a lot of fans including me, advocated this as a way forward), be consistent against the "bums" and you can win the league.
However two things were not taken into account, one Joe Louis and Man U were already champions, and secondly you must not be a bum yourself. Already Arsenal have failed to beat several bums with defeat at Sunderland, and draws at West Ham and Burnley. Those three games account for seven points already, seven points that would see the Gunners top as they face Chelsea. Instead they are looking over the edge of an abyss. Lose and they will be 9 points behind, some believe that if that happens it won't matter, Arsenal will make up the deficit as they did last time round.
Well history does repeat itself, but first as tragedy and then as farce. Lose and Arsenal will continue to play catch up, and real champions don't spend their season worrying about opponents' results. The minute you do you are halfway beat.
Even if Arsenal win, and I hope they do, winning the league will still be a big ask. Can anyone say with certainty that they will beat Stoke on a freezing Saturday in February? Last year Arsenal beat Chelsea away, but still lost to the "bums" afterwards, undoing the good work.
Of course Wenger is right there is no point on his team dwelling on the Utd defeat last Sunday, but those who fail to learn lessons from their mistakes are condemned to repeat them.
From Invincibles to inhibited in a few years, it will take a team with strong will to reverse that trend, this team is a long way from proving they have such a will.
Eduardo won't play, and Diaby faces a late fitness test. Campbell is back in the squad.

I thought we were pretty damn good. Results and goals always swap people's opinion, but we could and should have been two three up before United had one single chance.

for some reason you dont take into account that if we could change our results..so could Chelsea..so we're still in the same position
now the only thing we need to do is BEAT chelsea..none of this drawing sh.t...and luckily for us our next game is against Liverpool

CL semi man utd 3-1 first 5 mins ripped them apart.
Home to Chelsea 4-1 first 15mins ripped them apart.
Away to Man utd 2-1 played them off the park.
Home to Chelsea 3-0 Defence and midfield sound for 40 mins
Home to Man utd 3-1 good for 30mins
seen it all before, a 2-2 draw or a 2-1 win seem far away, our best bet is to go for 0-0 a draw like we did at home last season at least then we'll get a point, this gung ho stuff is punishing us.
