Irn Bru First Division Qots Vs Airdrie (02/08/08)

Last week’s match against Dumbarton may have been the season opener but today is where the competition really beings. Cup runs are a great distraction but in the end its league matches that will decide whether the season is a success or failure. Today’s match is a toughie but to be honest every match in the first division this season is going to be and we should relish the prospect.

Queen of the South had a very successful finish to last season’s campaign a top five finish in the Irn Bru first division and a Scottish Cup final where they pushed Glasgow Rangers all the way and earned a place in this season Uefa cup. Queens’s players will obviously be trying not to be distracted by next week’s match against Danish outfit Nordsjalland, but who could blame them if they were, I just hope we can take advantage of any lapse in concentration presented to us.

Other than Paul Lovering who is suspended Kenny Black has a full squad to choose from, Simon Lynch has recovered from his bout of Athletes foot and will be available for selection, Bobby Donnelly has also recovered from a knock during last week’s match. Kenny may make changes this week, a couple of defensive mistakes could have cost us dearly in the challenge cup and in this division it would have been difficult to recover from that kind of start.

So what do the Airdrie fans predict?

Prediction Stats QotS v Airdrie
Home Win: 50% [39]
Away Win: 18% [14]
Draw: 31% [24]
The score line?
2-0 22% [17]
1-1 16% [13]
1-2 15% [12]
