You’ve got love football the highs of reaching the Playoffs and winning the first leg mixed with the lows of being beaten in a penalty shootout bringing the season to its inevitable conclusion. In truth that’s what Airdrie’s 2016 – 2017 season will be remembered for a mixture of sublime scoring prowess mixed with calamitous defensive mistakes, winning one week only to be played off the park the following week and “that’s why we’re Airdrie”.

Airdrie’s season.

League Home record
8 wins
2 draws
8 losses
27 goals for
32 goals against

League Away Record
8 wins
2 Draws
8 Losses
34 goals for
34 goals against

As you can see there is nothing to separate our performances, it simply came down to which Airdrie side turned up on the day.

61 goals scored and 66 goals against gave us a -5 deficit and a final points total of 52 which in turn gave us the highest league finish we’ve had in a while.

Prediction League

Thanks again to everyone who entered the Prediction League this season and I’m great full for the support I’ve had when I been speaking to people at games, I hope to do it all again next season where it looks like we can look forward to games vs. Albion Rovers, Arbroath, Ayr United, East Fife,
Queens Park, Raith Rovers Stranraer, Peterhead or Forfar Athletic, Alloa or Brechin.

With that we say good bye to the 2016-2017 season and look forward to 2017 – 2018 I hope you can all find a way to enjoy the closed season without any football to enjoy.
