The word on the street in downtown Sincil Bank, is Mr Cook is set to sign for the Imps in Jan? Any whispers from your end?

Possibly but would be bad PR for MP and MM given the shower of poop that they brought in at the start of the season. MM seems to have turned a corner now he has stopped tinkering with the team. Cook and Norwood could see us promoted after an indifferent start utilising an array of ineffective strikers. I can’t see you guys offering more than peanuts given the length of his contract and that will probably be your undoing as he is worth losing on a free if he gets us up.

Indeed he has.The Imps have the smallest squad in L2 and it well known that DC is looking to increase the size of the squad and wants at least two players per position.

A post on your site says:-''Can't see us getting Cook (or wanting him) when we have Rheady, especially with a contract extension)''.

Haven't you also signed Danny Rowe[one of them] on loan to the end of the season.

Is that the same rumour that suggests Green Rhead Waterfall & Raggett are coming to us?

You are having another great season. What chance of you doing a Bristol Rovers?

It would be very nice, but its a very different league to the one we fell out of 6 years ago and will be a big ask in my opinion.

More rumours about Cook leaving .Seems to be enjoying his football at TRFC after an indifferent start .On one of the threads it talked about Wrexham getting £112500 for a follow on fee .I would have thought Cook would go to Lincoln rather than the sheep if he were to move on .He will stay with TRFC and get a contract extension as long as we dont fall to pieces in the next 2 weeks .Come on Cookie stay with SWA

Hi import from another Imps supporter, it has never really been mentioned that Cooky is coming to City on any of our websites, but as you know Cowley likes his players to do their fair share of defending also when needed, so if it's true, then I hope Cooky is ready to take that roll on, and they also expect the players to work hard for each other.
But personally I don't think there is anything in this rumour, but we will have to wait and see.

I've also followed Rovers on Total Tranmere for coming up to ten years now in April next.
They seem to be 2 of the most used sites I've come across.

Not sure if you imps want him, but I for one don't want to loose him. Saying that, if he does go then as long as it's not to anyone in our league and through his own choice then so be it. He would be a great addition to any league two club.

I think Cooky would do well in the Imps forward line as we get a lot of centres into the box and that's what he thrives on good service.
But Rovers need him more than City do if the play offs are the main target this season.

I hope Cookie stays but the references to Rheadie basically means how nice does the grass smell. Cookie spends 99% more time up right than Rhead. Maybe thats why the Imps want him

I just hope that that there is no truth in this. Cook is infinitely better than any striker signed by MM but for some reason MM never seems convinced by him. I have little confidence that he would be replaced by anyone nearly as good.

+1 doesn’t seem to be anyone tearing up the NL. Rowe at Fylde is probably best of the bunch and he hardly set the world alight vs Wigan. Doesn’t appear to be anyone in NL south destined for bigger things on the striker front, couldn’t comment on NL north.

The leading scorer in the NLN at the moment is Jason Oswell at Stockport, he has netted 19 times in 20 games.

Can’t see this happening now Alabi and Waring have moved on. I belive MM/ the club had expected for him to move on in the summer and brought the aforementioned in as replacements only for Cook to stay on. I don’t think the fact he is left out for games is an indication of anyone’s hatred towards him, MM has talked strongly about putting the best people out for the tactics he wishes to employ against particular teams. Cookie isn’t the fittest and 50 odd games on NL pitches probably isn’t in his locker.

Odd that he had no problem playing regularly at Barrow.

Do we know that Alabi and Waring are on long term loans? I thought that thet were just until January

It could also be called passion in different circumstances. Some people said Norwood was wrong in the home Fylde game for berating DMH for wasting a situation, but I thought he was right to do so because he[JN] was in a far better position to attempt to score

Cook show's passion and a desire to win, I dont see anything wrong in that. If he is allowed to go it will be a bad move and would show a lack of ambition from the club.

There’s more to the whole situation than meets the eye though and I’m not talkin rumours. Just put yourself in Cooks shoes. If we don’t go up money will be tight, what deal if any will he be offered in the summer in that situation, if it’s one that makes him poorer he then thinks about moving on, he’s then in the pool of other released/out of contract strikers up and down Europe many with proven league pedigree, he’s only getting a NL contract in that scenario, will promotion hopefuls want him, possibly, possibly not. If a league club offering him a 2 or 3 year deal comes in during January it would be a pretty big gamble to reject it in the hope we go up, he’s then gambling we want him in League 2. It’s the same for all our players of any note, unfortunately we are in no position to keep people if a good offer comes in that suits the player, with what they earn and a whole life ahead after football I wouldn’t begrudge any of them moving on if a better offer came in.

I don't see showing passion as wrong but, if he is berating team mates constantly it sends the wrong message, particularly to the opposition.

We have all given team mates a mouthful of abuse at times (well I have!!!) but, this needs to be followed up with encouragement.

I would imagine that they would sit him down and ask him if he intends to re-sign for us in the Summer and if not then depending how much is on the table in January, we may take the money?

From what I heard during the Summer, it was Palios that rejected the offers from Wrexham and Botts County because he rates Cook.

Unless there is a like for like contract on offer from Tranmere's, then Cook would be mad to stay at Prenton Park.

If we were serious about keeping him, then why have we not given him a new deal already?

Probably because we can't commit to players until we know what the financial situation is depending on what league we are in. I have been told that the players/staff were told if we don't go up this year there is no money available to keep them on the same terms.

Doubt Oldham will be parting with any money, their in mini turmoil, stalled takeover bids, can see them down here in the NL in 3 years. If a deal is to be done more likely a one for one or we just release Mangan in exchange for Banks on loan until the season ends. If DMH were staying he would be here, very rare a player leaves from a loan and returns full time. His stock has gone up being here and no doubt he will now be in talks at Barnsley for a pay rise. Happened to us with Ryan Shotton, went back over Xmas on a promise to return in January, over Xmas he renegotiated his wage at Stoke and we couldn’t afford him back in January, Ronnie was on the bus to an away game trying to ship two out having convinced LR to allow Shotton back on the inflated wage if he reduced the wage bill. Not saying DMH won’t return but would be surprised and doubt Managan wil, fiancé it, he’s basically valueless if deeemd surplus to requirement at a NL club.

Cooke is not having a great season, in part because of how he was used earlier in the season but it is a mark of a genuine striker that he is still our top scorer. Mangan provides cover but neither he, Alabi,or Waring would be a loss if the departure opened up the chance of bringing in a new striker.
The three strikers contracted brought in this season have made minimal impact and those on loan have done no better whilst away

Cook is out of contract in the Summer, and I can't see him staying here, even if he does get offered a new deal.

Does Palios take a fee in this window and bring in another Striker, or do we run the clock down on Cooks current deal and hope we gain promotion?

The January window is a difficult one and unless there's money available to get a replacement, then it looks like we may have to risk losing Cook for nothing in the Summer.

I can't see where a decent 20+ goal a season Striker is going to come from without having to pay a decent fee. Bearing in mind that a fee was paid for Alabi, and look how badly that bit of business panned out?

The only rumours at the moment are those surrounding Mangan moving to Oldham.

We are a few days into the transfer window and as yet, the past links with Wrexham and Notts County have not been rekindled.

Perhaps not if it's true there's a £1 million to spend on players to keep them up in League Two or at least go towards it something we haven't got to get us out of this damn league.

I don't see a league club coming I think for him personally, any lower league club looking for an option at this time of year is going to look at players proven in the league, but like Mangan, may not have a good ratio but they know what there getting. They are Cook isn't a league player, look objectively he was dropped by us last year not been first choice this, higher scorers at worse clubs, and league 1/2 is full of target men all proven in the division. He'd of gone in summer if he was going
