What a performance! After Rides dismissal, and their injury over overtime goal, I sat with my head in my hands thinking, oh no, not again. The second half started slowly but around the hour mark, something almost spiritual happened. The fans started to believe, I mean really believe rather than simply blindly hoping against hope. They lifted the team who having already played for an hour with 10 men and having been reorganised due to the dismissal, injury and tactics, responded magnificently. Their collective will to win and strive for victory was something very special. I remember thinking after about 80 minutes that even if we go on to lose, I can have no complaints, given the players application and astonishing work rate. And then, a minute later.....Jenno, recently out of his hospital bed, curled his cross across the box and time slowed. It was directed to an unmarked Nors in the box. Should he, could he, would he? Rising to meet the ball, he met it perfectly and angled the ball down to the keepers right. He got a hand on it and for one brief moment, he looked to have possibly turned it round the post but.....cue wild ecstatic celebrations from the SWA, the ball nestled in the corner of the net. What a moment. A paroxysm of uncontrolled unbridled joy descended on all the Rovers adherents. The next 10 minutes are a bit of a blur to be honest as we, team and fans united as one, trod those last few hard yards on our road back to where we belong, the Football League. The celebrations at the end were as emotionally charged as they were deserved. The team had done it. The fans had done it. Micky Mellon had done it. Mark Palios had done it and all involved in the Tranmere set up had done it. For those of you who witnessed this momentous day in our club's history, it will always be so very very special. To be a Rovers fan yesterday made me feel very proud indeed. WE DID IT!!!
